🎶 A City That Sings in Many Languages: Celebrating Portsmouth Together
As part of our Week of Celebrating Languages, we are absolutely delighted to share a truly special highlight with our community, a vibrant, joyful song that captures the spirit of Portsmouth as a City of Languages.
This fantastic collaboration, brought to life with the support of Portsmouth Music Hub, showcases the incredible talents of learners from across our schools, including Wimborne Primary, St Jude’s, St Swithun’s, Trafalgar School, Admiral Lord Nelson School and Mayfield School. Their voices come together in a powerful celebration of culture, diversity and the unifying power of language.
🎥 Watch the video here and enjoy this inspiring performance:
This song is more than just a performance, it is a reflection of our shared commitment to celebrating the rich linguistic diversity across Portsmouth. It highlights how languages connect us, build friendships and open doors to the wider world.
Throughout the Week of Celebrating Languages, the video will be proudly displayed on the Big Screen in Guildhall Square, giving the wider community the chance to experience this uplifting project together.
🌍 Get Involved!
We would love for schools, families and learners to take part:
Share the video widely with your communities
Perform the song in assemblies or events
Create your own versions to celebrate languages in your school
We are also excited to announce an upcoming creative competition, inviting learners to write their own version of the chorus or even a new verse in a language of their choice, a wonderful opportunity to showcase creativity and linguistic talent!
This project perfectly captures what we stand for as a network, bringing people together through languages, culture and collaboration.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. We are incredibly proud of our young people and the inspiring community we continue to build together.
Let’s keep celebrating languages - together! 🌟
