Inspire Students to See Languages as a Gateway to Their Future!!
The Solent Language Network is delighted to invite secondary schools to participate in our Careers with Languages Event, taking place on:

Monday 5th October 2026

π Admiral Lord Nelson School, Portsmouth
This exciting and interactive morning is designed for Year 8 and Year 9 students and aims to support the GCSE options process by showcasing the diverse and rewarding career opportunities that language learning can unlock.
The event forms part of a wider Careers with Languages Fortnight running from 6thβ17th October, celebrating the value of language learning through competitions, promotional videos and careers-focused activities.

π― What Students Will Experience
Students will take part in a range of engaging, interactive and inspiring activities, including:
π Global Culture & Business Challenge
Team-building activities and quizzes exploring international cultures, communication and global business.
π¬ Careers with Languages
Inspiring videos featuring professionals who use languages in their careers, alongside stories from students who have studied abroad.
π€ Guest Speakers
Motivational talks from professionals whose careers have been enhanced by their language skills.
π Interactive Career Hunt
A dynamic activity helping students discover the many careers where languages are an advantage.
Japanese Language & Culture
A special session introducing students to Japanese language and culture, highlighting how learning Japanese can open doors to future opportunities.
β½ Futbol Lingo β Motivation Through Sport and Language
One of the highlights of the morning will be Futbol Lingo, a high-energy online workshop connecting football, languages and global careers.

Students will discover how language skills can lead to exciting opportunities in:

This engaging session is designed to challenge stereotypes and help students understand the real-world relevance of language learning.
